Abstract
The cybercrime phenomenon is the most prevalent problem of rapid technological evolution and the extensive use of the Internet and advanced communication tools in Bangladesh. This study is based on the cybercrime phenomenon. The study is intended to understand the concept of cybercrime and the most common types of cybercrime in the Bangladeshi society such as online financial fraud, hacking of accounts and systems, theft of personal data, online defamation and extortion, dissemination of harmful and misleading content, and its negative security, economic, social and ethical consequences.
The research also discusses the legal bases relating to the protection of human needs and interests, and how the objectives and general principles of Islamic law criminalize different types of cyber aggression because of their inherent injustice, and the illegal seizure of people’s wealth, violation of privacy, and corruption. For this reason, the study offers a number of preventive and corrective measures to combat these crimes, the most important of which are: strengthening religious and moral values, proliferating digital awareness, developing legislation and legal systems, activating deterrent penalties, and strengthening cooperation between governmental, security and educational institutions. The research concluded that the fight against cybercrime is not limited to technical and legal measures only, but it needs to build an integrated system based on the Islamic and ethical values. This would help to guarantee digital security, protect rights and defend society against the increasing dangers of cyberspace.
